In the Fall of 2004, a group of concerned
citizens came together to form the Fort Collins Public Access Network
(FC PAN) a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization dedicated to promoting and
strengthening public access television in Fort Collins, Colorado.
Short Term Goals
- To find a permanent location for the FC PAN offices
and studio.
- To establish a community presence and facilitate
increased public access programming.
- To expand and diversify public access programming.
- To form collaborative partnerships with other Public,
Educational and Governmental (PEG) entities for work on projects that
will benefit the entire community.
Why Public Access Television
is Important for the Community
- Public access gives citizens an opportunity to actively
voice their opinions.
- It promotes awareness of community issues.
- It is a medium through which local information, events
and talent can be shared.
- It helps promote community diversity through its
range of programming.
- Schools can use it as a tool in the classroom.
- Serves as a balancing faction for corporate media.
Our Mission
The Fort Collins Public Access Network will operate
in the public interest by encouraging participation in civic life as
well as fostering artistic and cultural expression. The Network will
also facilitate better communication between non-profit organizations
and the community they serve. FC PAN will energetically support all
individuals as they explore their creativity through the medium of public
access television. The Network will also serve as a balancing faction
for the corporate presence in the media.
